Cascade van Begeerte

This popular hop variety is a cross between the hop variety Fuggle and the Russian hop variety Serebrianka. This variety originates from an American breeding program that began collecting seeds in 1956. Researchers at Oregon State University subsequently crossed various varieties. The hop was commercialised from 1971. The name refers to the Cascade Range, a mountain range that runs through the state of Oregon, among other places.

This hop variety is often used in heavily hopped beers and gives a characteristic citrus-fruity character.
